Welcome to The 67th Convention of TAAI, to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This year, the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) is set to host its 2023 Convention in the capital city of Sri Lanka, Colombo from July 6-9, on the invitation from the Sri Lankan Tourism Promotion Board (SLTPB). The 67th Convention and Exhibition in Colombo is being held in association with Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO).
“Every destination that has played host to the TAAI Convention in the past has seen tourist numbers surge at least quadruple, since our members serve as ambassadors of tourism. This Convention is the right opportunity for improving bilateral tourism,” Addressing the press today, TAAI President Jyoti Mayal said.
Members need to register online for the Convention. The theme of the Convention is 'Transcending Borders, Transforming Lives' to position the island nation as a key destination of choice among Indian travellers.

Our first stop will be at the Kalutara temple. Though not a historic temple it holds a special place in the Buddhist culture as this is one of the very few temples having a hollow dome that could be visited. The interior of the temple is beautified with 74 murals, each depicting different episodes of Lord Buddha’s life.
Arrive in Bentota and then it is time to go for a calm experience with a boat safari in the Bentota River. Creep through the mesmerizing mangrove tunnel and the mangrove forest and be on the lookout for any marinelife or birdlife. Here you wil also visit a fish therapy spa. Board the stage and dip your feet in to one of the cage ponds, and the fish would come swimming fast towards you and start nibbling. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind moment.
After this serene experience head to enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant or a hotel. Later towards the evening we head visit a turtle hatchery! This wonderful marine species have found ideal conditions for laying eggs in certain areas of the south coast. Responsible groups have come into action and through these turtle hatcheries ensure majority of the turtle hatchlings sees the light of day. While appreciating the efforts taken for protection you can enjoy an up-close and personal experience with the turtles.
With this experience the first day comes to an end and we head back to the hotel and wind down looking forward for the next day.

A valuable organization commenced in the 1970’s has since been caring for the orphaned elephants in the country. A sight to see will be the elephants lining up and walking across the street to the nearby river for their scheduled bath. And also by countless tea lovers spread across the world! Head in to a tea factory to witness the production process and learn how it begins from plucking the ideal tea leaves and goes through different steps and comes to our hands as a high quality product. Later in the evening make way to visit the temple of the sacred tooth relic. The aptly named temple houses the most revered tooth relic of Lord Buddha, and since its arrival to the island in the ancient times, the relic had played an important role as it was believed that the one who possesses the relic held the true authority to govern the land.
Walk through the temple complex witnessing various aspects of the Buddhist culture while also learning of the interesting facts surrounding this temple.
This brings to an end the scheduled program for the day and we head back to the hotel for a relaxed overnight. Wind down for the night, enjoy your meal and look forward for a sound sleep.

We start on a relaxing pace at the Peradeniya Royal botanical gardens. A venue existing from the times of Royalty it was re-planned by the British to be established as a botanical garden. It offers a broad experience of the flora in and out of the island and estimates more than four thousand species of plants being exhibited. Stroll down the varied paths along the gardens and remember to make some memories in the picturesque locations.
Now we make things more exciting with an interesting walking tour in the city of Kandy. Being the last kingdom of the ancient kings before it was finally ceded to the British, it should be noted that the strategic positioning of the city helped evade foreign invasions for a long period. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Navigate through the hustle and bustle of the busy streets, travel to the various bazaars, mingle with the locals, and experience local arts and crafts and some unique local food or drinks.
